Living a normal life for people with feeding tubes is difficult at best. It’s nearly impossible to maintain activity and mobility when you must constantly worry about dragging around all that equipment.

And until now, there really hasn’t been an ideal solution to the problem.

​

Resulting from three years of research and development, the patented FeedUp™ Feeding Solution was conceived by a physical therapist who saw first-hand how difficult it was for her feeding tube clients to participate in normal activities. She decided to create a better way for them – a way that would help them live a fuller and higher quality life.

 “I saw all the mobility issues feeding tube patients and their caregivers had and my heart went out to them,” said Dr. Heather Domingues, PT, DPT, physical therapist, and co-founder of FeedUp™. “Feeding equipment was just tossed on the bed or the wheelchair, greatly increasing the chance for a mishap.”

​

Upon discovering there were no good solutions available, Dr. Domingues decided to create one. Although she found other feeding systems on the market, none were adequate to meet all the needs of feeding tube patients. She designed the FeedUp device to be compact and lightweight, fitting neatly inside its specially designed backpack so there is no need for it to be taken out. Just as importantly, the tube stays secure in the upright position, eliminating bubbles, kinks, and feeding disruptions.

“Our goal in creating FeedUp was to improve independent mobility for feeding tube patients so they spend less time in bed or in their wheelchairs and more time living life and creating memories,” said Dr. Domingues.

To turn the idea into reality, she teamed up with her brother, Anthony Pezzello, and together they created the FeedUp™ Feeding Solution.

“Our goal now is to bring FeedUp to as many people who need it as we can.”

Dr. Domingues graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Seton Hall University in 2011. She has experience working with individuals in the hospital, rehab, clinic, and home setting who experience mobility and functional impairments. These experiences have inspired Dr. Domingues to appreciate the ability to impact the mobility of an individual, no matter what age, to improve quality of life and add more life to their days.
